Free Introductory Session
I offer a free half hour introductory session. This would give us a chance to meet face – to – face, get to know one another and it will give you a chance to find out whether I would be the right counsellor for you.
The first session is about briefly talking about what has brought you to counselling and what you would like to achieve from your sessions. Some people have a clear idea of what they would like to get out of counselling, while others might not. So don’t worry if you are not completely sure what you would like to achieve.
'Start where you are. Use what you have. Do what you can.'
- Arthur Ashe
Furthermore, you will be able to ask any questions you might have and discuss any concerns.
It’s for you to decide how long you want the counselling to last. You knew when it was the right time for you to seek counselling and you will know when it is time to finish it. Some people feel ready to end counselling after only few sessions, whilst others will continue for months or even years. Together we will agree to either a set number of sessions or we will leave the ending open – ended and we will discuss and review this as we progress.
There is no obligation for you to continue after the introductory session. You don’t even have to tell me there and then whether you want to commit to a course of therapy. You may wish to go away and think about whether you want to work with me.
If you decide to continue, we will discuss what day and time is best for you to have your sessions. I will give you my terms and conditions which will form the basis of our work together and I will ask you to sign and return a copy at our first session.
